About Us
Sioux Falls Savoy Theater is a new and open Community Theater in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Founded in 2022 by Graham Wrightson, an ex-pat British devotee of Gilbert & Sullivan who had to scratch his own itch to perform. We aim to share the joy and provide opportunities on stage and off.

Who were Gilbert and Sullivan?
William Schwenk Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan were two of late Victorian England's most famous playwrights.
They produced fourteen operettas from 1871 to 1896, most to great acclaim. Richard D'Oyly Carte produced and commissioned most of their shows in the Savoy Theatre in the West End of London (which still produces plays today), hence the name of our Theater company. Though their first, Thespis, is now lost, the other thirteen are still produced regularly around the world to new and continually enamored audiences. Most people know of their three most famous works: H.M.S. Pinafore, Pirates of Penzance, and the Mikado.

Fun Fact:
The Pirates of Penzance actually received its theatrical debut in New York rather than London. Gilbert and Sullivan tried (unsuccessfully) to control the American copyright of their plays since they had lost so many royalties on unauthorized performances of H.M.S. Pinafore in the USA. So Pirates is an American musical!

Our Mission
Making Theater Accessible to everyone
We aim to provide free and open opportunities for performing on stage to all people of all ages.
Through the fun of performing classic Gilbert and Sullivan musicals, we will share the joy of learning to sing, act and dance on stage.
We also provide the chance to learn all aspects of putting on a performance from backstage to front of house.
No experience necessary and no auditions needed to join the chorus.

We perform one Gilbert and Sullivan show every Spring.
Rehearsals will be once a week, almost every Thursday from mid-September until the performances. Rehearsals and performances will be in a Sioux Falls middle or high school theater.
Everyone of all ages is welcome to come to rehearsals.

Chorus members will learn to sing, dance and act through the instruction of the production team and more experienced performers around them.
We are committed to supporting the performing arts in Sioux Falls and to providing the opportunity to everyone to get involved on or off stage.
